About Us
We're a dryer vent cleaning company based in Carlsbad, CA. We've worked this area long enough to know the neighborhoods, the housing stock, and the kinds of calls that come in regularly.
Some vents can't be cleaned back to working order, and we say so on the spot. If the duct behind your dryer is original flexible foil, crushed flat against the wall, we won't brush it and call it good. It will clog again in a few months. Same with a run patched with tape at every joint, or a roof jack with a screen behind it that's packed solid and brittle. In those cases we tell you what it would take to fix it properly and let you decide. We'll point you to dryer vent repair or a full dryer vent installation, rather than charging you for a cleaning that won't hold. We also turn jobs down. If you had the vent done last year, the dryer is drying in one cycle, and airflow at the hood reads strong, there's nothing here worth paying for yet.
Carlsbad and the rest of North County coastal San Diego run two housing eras, and they fail differently. Pre-1980 ranches and beach cottages put the dryer in a garage corner, a service porch, or a hallway closet, with a short run straight out through stucco or the garage wall. Those are quick, but the duct is usually original foil or vinyl and smashed behind the appliance. Post-1985 tract and master-planned homes, such as La Costa, San Elijo Hills, Bressi Ranch, and Rancho Bernardo-style builds, put laundry upstairs, central to the floor plan. That means 20 to 35 feet of duct through a joist bay and up through the attic to a roof jack or gable vent. That run is the most common reason we get called out here for long dry times. Condos and attached townhomes in Carlsbad Village, Encinitas, Solana Beach and Oceanside have stacked interior laundry closets venting through shared chases or long horizontal runs out to a soffit, and those collect lint at every elbow. The marine layer doesn't freeze anything, but 70 to 90 percent morning humidity along the coast makes lint stick to the duct wall instead of blowing clear. Inland valleys go the other way: hot, dry, dusty, and in fall the Santa Ana winds and wildfire smoke load up both the laundry air and the exterior hood.
On site we read airflow at the hood before we touch anything, so there's a number to compare against. Then we pull the dryer out, disconnect the transition duct, and run a rotary brush on a flexible line through the full length while a vacuum catches what comes loose at the open end. Roof jacks get handled from above when that's the only honest way to clear the last section. We work behind gas and electric units, stacked units, and the high-efficiency machines that are more sensitive to back pressure than older dryers. Hood flaps get
We cover Carlsbad and the surrounding towns. If you're in one of these areas and have
a dryer vent cleaning problem, call us. We usually get out the same day.
When does a vent stop being worth cleaning? That call gets made at your machine, not over the phone. We measure the run first. A short straight shot through a garage or stucco sidewall, common in pre-1980 Carlsbad ranches and beach cottages, almost always cleans up fine. The exception is original foil or vinyl duct crushed flat behind the appliance. Flex that has been squashed into a four-inch gap will re-clog within months. We say replace, and we say why. Second-floor laundry changes the math. La Costa, Bressi Ranch and San Elijo Hills plans push 20-35 ft of duct through a joist bay and up to a roof jack. Long runs are not a defect. Sagging flex inside that joist bay is. If we can reach the sag from an attic access, repair beats a rebuild. If it is buried in a closed bay, we say so and stop short of promising a fix we cannot see. Condo stacked closets in Carlsbad Village and nearby Encinitas and Oceanside buildings often vent into a shared chase. Those are HOA territory. We clean what is yours and document the rest. Morning marine-layer humidity makes lint cling instead of blowing clear. That argues for cleaning sooner, not for replacing good duct.
